How to install iHome 2.5 WinterBoard Theme on iPhone or iPod – Part 4

Round border in photoshop? (iphone icon)?

So I’m making a custom theme and all I need are the icons. I have all the shadowing set up and I have the pic in place, but I want to set a border and make a transparent backround. I tried making round rectangle and setting that where the icon should be, then using the path selection tool, and using the subtract from shape area, but it doesn’t work. Any advice?

♦ Create a duplicate layer of your pic
♦ Turn the visibility of the background layer off
♦ Create a new transparent layer below the pic copy
♦ Select the rounded rectangle shape tool
♦ Turn on the fill by clicking the icon that looks like a square with dots in the corners (no pen nib). It’s located in the Options Bar at the top of the Canvas
♦ Put a value in the Radius field that is also located on the Options Bar. The value will vary according to the size of the finished product. Start with 10.
♦ Draw the shape where you want it on the transparent layer
♦ Right click on the pic copy layer in the palette and select Create Clipping Mask
